Grand Theft Auto remains a problem in the Northeast division and around the City of Los Angeles. Late model Honda's and Toyota's have been the most common type of vehicle targeted by thieves. The use of a steering wheel lock or “Club” can help reduce the chances that your vehicle will be stolen. But remember, it only works if you remember to use it.

Northeast Division is offering the “Club” at the affordable price of $12.00.
Avoid future disappointment and regret, stop by NOE community station at
3353 San Fernando Road and ask for the “Club”

PROTECT YOUR VEHICLE:
- Never leave valuables in plain view
- Thieves know that you hide property under clothing
- Put property in trunk
- Use a steering lock and alarm system
- Park in well-well lighted areas
- Permanently mark property with identification (ID or drivers license #)
- Do not leave personal ID documents in glove compartment
- Keep your car doors locked and windows rolled up (as an aside, CENW had a recent report of property theft from a vehicle that had window rolled down because owner forgot it was down. We all forget that a window is open now and again, so double check!)
- If your car is stolen or burglarized, immediately report it to the Police

Several neighbors have witnessed suspicious persons searching through mailboxes and have witnessed mailbox theft. Some have reported that the mail person is being followed. Locals in the Silver Lake area have reported not receiving important mail. In a recent report, LAPD Northeast property crimes unit stated that gang members in the Highland Park area have recently become involved in mail theft (possibly leading to identity theft). For the criminal it's low risk, high reward.

Please Submit a Tip if you see gang members loitering on our block or people going through mailboxes. Below is a link to the US Postal Service for reporting mail theft...
